The Little Darlings Est. - Bridal Shop

And I'm back! Today's project that I'm posting is also from my space planning class. Our client found this space that we had to reconfigure and space plan to meet her needs and demands for a bridal boutique. Her style is boho bridal gowns meets JCrew retail space design. That was kind of tricky for me to grasp. Boho is more of a free, wild spirit and JCrew is a very simplistic, straight lines, white based feel. But with what my partner and I came up with, I think it ended up pretty close to what we were trying to go for.

My partner and I went down to a bridal shop at our local mall and immediately we were greeted by an employee who told us that they could help us with anything we needed. There was a front reception desk also that we loved. So on our floor plan, we incorporated a desk. Since the space was a tinsy bit small and enclosed, we didn't want it to feel too overpowering to the incoming customers. So we decided to make a 4' wall that would be covered with wood and then a 4' slate of glass on top with the "Little Darlings Est." etched on it.

The old Hollywood pictures are intended for the front windows. They would hang from the ceiling by wire. We loved the charming feeling of the pictures and how loved the girls are in them. Also, we hoped to bring in the simple, and clean lines to incorporate the JCrew look.

As you walk in the front of the store, there are arches on both side walls. To incorporate the boho feel we wanted to bring in large, fabric flowers (as you see above). The lighting fixture is keeping to the JCrew style of course. The drawing is in grayscale and is just showing what it would look like to scale. The rectangular mirror will hang on the outside of the dressing room doors. When a customer wants to try on gown(s) the employee would put their name there to keep it personalized and special. The hook is large and sturdy so that it can withstand heavy wedding gowns.

The picture on the right is our inspirational picture for the private office in the back of the shop. This is where the customer would purchase her gown and be fitted and sized. All the gowns are shown on the floor, so that means every purchase will  be shipped to them, not taken home that very day. We wanted the office to be chic and fancy, yet welcoming and not too over intimidating to scare the customer away from making one of the most important purchase of her life. We would have a little refreshments bar tucked on the side also.

For the mirror and pedestal area, we wanted it to be elegant which we incorporated by the mirror selection and the chaise lounge for the customers' posse. We found this flooring and absolutely fell in love with it. It fit perfectly with what we going for. The dark, natural wood is keeping with the JCrew style and then the painted patterns is with the boho style. Isn't that so awesome?! I want it!!

The picture of the storage would be placed in the walls of the dressing rooms. It will showcase the jewelry, veils, etc.

The receiving room in the back is for the incoming jewelry and other merchandise. It will also be used as a break room. Then there is an ADA restroom in the back.

Overall, I loved doing this and how it turned out! It was a ton of work but I'm so satisfied.

Well, until next time my darlings!
xoxo,
Meagan
