For this project we were given a floor plan. We were able to knock down all the interior walls and put up walls where ever we wanted. That way we could design where we wanted certain rooms. We were given a theme: Asian. We decided to go with a traditional Asian design. Simple, yet elegant.
We designed the house for the Jones family. (No, this family is not real.) They live in Salt Lake. They are renovating and old 1960's home. They live in a wealthy, neighborhood and have no budget. Mrs. Sally Jones is a lifestyle blogger who loves cooking and decorating. Mr. Jeff Jones is an architect and the breadwinner. Their oldest daughter, Lindsey is 13 years old. They have two younger sons, Scott and Sam who are 8 year old twins. Unfortunately Sally has MS and eventually will be in a wheelchair. The boys and girls have separate rooms. Some spaces don't need to be ADA. The fireplace must stay in the same place. All exterior walls must stay. The ceiling height is 8'.
Not only did we make a 3D model, the requirements were making color boards for all the rooms and colored renderings. We ended up going way over what was required (because we're THAT good).
Now to the pics!
The first step was to cut out all the walls. My awesome group member Anna cut out the foam core to fit all the exterior walls. Seriously she is amazing.
Then we started gluing in the pieces! Anna found a cork sticker that was literally perfect for this. We were able to stretch it however much we needed it. In this pic we're installing the boys bunk beds. Seriously the cutest things ever!!
Just more pics of installing the cutness! The left pic is the master bedroom window. The middle is another view of the boys bunk beds. The right pic is the half bath.
Here's an aerial view of the girls bedroom.
We decided to design her room by the antique wallpaper. Isn't it just so darling?!
Here's her fun little reading nook. I did that all on AutoCAD and then printed it to scale.
Here's the living room going into the kitchen. (Don't worry I've got better pics.)
Here's the kitchen wall. The double doors go out to the backyard.
Here's the master room. Past the fireplace is their master bath. Across from the bed is their closet.
Another shot of the master.
Here's the cute boys bunk beds. Their theme for the room was this Asian anime show called Studio Ghibli. I don't know what it is but it was cute and totally worked.
Now here comes the after pictures. Get ready for cuteness overload.
The outside look of the master room. I just die with these outside pics.
The outside looking into the family room.

Here's the master bath.
Here's the full wall shot of the living room/dining room.

Here's the garage door and bit of the front landscape!!
And volia! Here's the front of the house!!
We put a pexyglass on top to show our lighting plan. We glued jewels on it to show the canned lighting. We also put in the chandeliers for each room. So fun!
Here's the floor plan, rendering of the house, blogger nook, man cave, and kids bath samples.
Here's the living and dining room color board. We used traditional Asian design.
Here's the master suite. Seriously they have such a great setup.
Here's the Kitchen, powder room, and laundry room. We used the same counter top for the laundry room and kitchen.
Here's the kids rooms.
AND BAM! It's finished!! Seriously this was so hard but definitely SO worth it. Our teacher absolutely loved it, and that's all that matters right? haha
Well hope ya'll enjoyed it! Our group put our heart and souls into this project. It's our baby. haha
xoxo,
Meagan
