Historical Boards

Well here comes the onslaught of blog posts for the remaining fall semester projects! The first (and easiest) one I'm covering today are all the color boards I did with my group in Historical Furnishings and Architecture. Every couple weeks our groups would be assigned the time era that we learned about to design and create. We were able to choose whether we wanted to do a Living Room, Dining Room, or a Bedroom. We were instructed to use the appropriate design elements for the time era and correctly label them. Here we go!

Here is the first color board that I did with my group! We did a Prehistoric Dining Room. We took a modern take on it. I love the cement table and bench. And the fact that we were able to find a cow hide really made me so excited about this one! (For some explanation) every board we were instructed to have a historical detail. This one we decided to have a post and lintel fireplace.

Here's the Greece Bedroom board. This one we wanted a coastal vibe instead of the usual fancy style. We pulled ideas from the coastal Grecian homes. They are so bright and airy. Plus they have tones of blue and I just LOVE blue.

Here's the Rome Living Room. For this one we didn't hold back on the fanciness. But if you notice we did keep it classy and simple. It has more of a Restoration Hardware feel. I mean, the sofa is just to die for. And the mirror?! AHHHH.

This one is a Japanese Dining Room. Lacquered wood is a huge design element in Japanese design. It is mainly used in their temples and shrines. Usually the common houses are very simple and use natural materials. We decided to mix the two. Our group actually presented on Japan to the class and it was so fun!! Those pics will come :)

Here's an African Living Room. This one by far was the most fun to put together. It really pushed ourselves to get creative. I've never considered this sort of design my taste but after designing this room I really got into it! So fun!

This was the fastest board that we made. Literally it took us 6 hours. It was amidst all our other finals so we had no time to linger on it. Haha. But it turned out pretty well I think! My favorite part of this is the Elizabeth I portrait. So great.

This one is my absolute FAVORITE. My personal design comes from this time era, the French Rococo time. In this time era, pale and light colors become popular, along with gold accents. Just all the colors and wallpapers and fancy/regal design. I CAN'T.

And for the very last board, we have the Italian Baroque style. This style is very similar to the French Rococo era, only dark and more dramatic. I love this one too. I say the fancier the bettah!

That is all.
