My Tiny House

Well school is in FULL swing here. I'm loving every minute of it! (Yes even every late night. Haha.)

My first project of the semester was space planning a tiny house. Basically it's a house on a trailer and its supposed to be very sustainable and energy saving. For our project, we were able to design our own floor plan with a min. of 1000 sq/ft. Of course I went a tad over that. Eh, I like big things. I can't help it. Anyways! We designed our own "tiny house" and were able to do anything with it, so no budget. SO I decided to do a couple cool things.

One, I wanted a spiral staircase. I have always loved them and I know in the future I must have them incorporated in my home somehow.

(Do you remember in Princess Diaries how Anne Hathaway's character had her room upstairs and it had a spiral staircase?! Yeah that's why I want one.)

Second, I wanted a trap door in the floor of the kitchen for extra storage. I just think that's the coolest thing ever!

Thirdly, I wanted hammocks. (As I typing this I should have incorporated the music room into the bedroom. OH WELL. Maybe next time I'll get it right. :/)

Fourthly, I wanted there to be an upstairs loft. So thus the music room space. You know, just so me and my besties can jam and stuff. Or start our own band. Or both. Both is good.

What a good movie. Ok sorry, back to what I was talking about! I wanted it to be fancy/regal/gold vs. tiny house. I love a touch of gold in my design. I almost always try to incorporate it in my projects. I just can't help it.

Here's the kitchen and just the overall style of what I'm going for. To show the fancy/regal/gold deal I selected the woman stone bust and gold framed mirror. Also, I wanted it to be casual so I brought in the graphics on the top right. Just to keep it girly and feminine. And that chair. Isn't it just perfect?

And then here's the bathroom and other inspirational pictures. The piano and hammock pic are what I was thinking it would be looking like. And then I did design the spiral stairs to have windows from the ceiling to the floor. Wouldn't that be so fun to have?! I think so. You could totally creep on someone. Or bird watch. Or watch snow fall. Or just whatever your heart desires.

This was such a rewarding project. I'm glad I was able to design a tiny house (even though I went well over the square footage!). You really do learn through these large and crazy projects!

Well there are many more projects that I will be posting! Yay!

xo,
Meagan
