This weekend was so fun. My bfs came up to SLC to visit me for a couple days. So we did our ushe: movie premieres, getting sweet pork burritos at Cafe Rio, and shopping. You could say we are the same person. This picture was taken late after we saw Mockingjay (which was great but so depressing I rather wish I didn't see it) in the Gateway Station. It was FREEZING outside and we had to drop in to thaw. So thus this selfie picture.
The past couple weeks I have worked on a new project! I was assigned a topic and group for this project. It was on Educational Design and we got to design a kindergarten classroom. We had to put together a PowerPoint presentation, a paper explaining the "clients" wants and needs, and a color board. The picture above is a rough sketch of the floor plan. The three of us collaborated from our own kindergarten classrooms and came up with this! We had to take into account the colors and lighting and how they would effect the kids psychologically and visually. The furniture that we selected had to be able to flexible and easy to move around. We wanted a reading area and crafting space for the kids so we created a Reading Area and a Kitchen for storing all the craft supplies and also for a clean-up area. From our experience, the most efficient "one-on-one time" spent with our teachers were at a half circle group table. We placed it right in front of the teachers desk in order for her to grab whatever she needed to aid the kids. The entry way and kitchen has a black and white marble laminate floor. That was my first "must have" for this space. I have always loved black and white flooring. It's just so classy. The rest of the flooring is carpet. All the walls except for the wall with the white board are a beige and the accent wall is blue. It draws the students' eyes towards the white board, which is where all the learning is happening! I loved learning about educational design. I hope to one day design a classroom in my future career!
Once again, thank goodness for my wonderful label maker. I lovest thou o holy label maker. XO,
Meagan
